Award Winning Author, Entrepreneur and Adventurer Visits Mumbai, India For Medical Mission
Charles G. Irion Performs Medical Assessment For Project C.U.R.E. In Mumbai, India
As an advisory board member and a trained and certified needs assessment representative, Charles G. Irion’s latest mission was in Mumbai, India. The city of Mumbai, is a great port city, situated on the west coast of the Indian peninsula.  One of India’s dominant urban centers, it’s one of the largest and most densely populated cities in the world.  Therefore, the medical needs are great.   Major health problems in the city include AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, chronic respiratory ailments, and gastro-intestinal diseases related to poor sanitation and hygiene.
Working closely with Harvest India, Irion assessed two hospitals.  One located in Mumbai and another in Tenali.  The Phil-Am Lions Club donated over 250 pair of neutralized eye glasses for children in an orphanage, and Irion himself brought over fifty pounds of clothing for children in need.
Quote by CI here – something like – “I’m honored to volunteer for PC and look forward to the ways I can help the people of Mumbai.”
About Project C.U.R.E. - Project C.U.R.E. is the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world. Project C.U.R.E. is the recipient of the GuideStar Exchange Silver Seal, the Charity Navigator Four-Star Rating and ranked by Forbes as one of the 20 Most Efficient Large U.S. Charities.  For more information on how you can help, please visit www.projectcure.org

About Havest India - Our strategy is to be intentional whether distributing food, or caring for an orphan for 1 day or for their entire life, or running an academic calendar in a major institution, or doing a major outreach in an unreached village. Not only are we looking to meet the “right now” needs, but we are looking to invite each person we encounter to be a part of a community so that they can experience true life change. We want them to know that they matter and that they are loved. It tangibly looks like having young pastors trained in our Bible Colleges, so that after a Mercy Camp there is a pastor visiting or living in that area, ready to follow up with those we treat. We not only want to care for the physical needs but the emotional and spiritual as well.  For more information please visit, www.harvestindia.org

Radio Interview

I was interviewed recently with Global Talk Radio!  Click the link to listen to the interview below!

Benjamin Franklin's Financial Wisdom

This article was in my home newspaper, The Arizona Republic and I really like it and thought I would re-blog it.  This book

Imagine learning how to manage money from Benjamin Franklin.  The 18th-century Pennsylvanian was, after all, more than just your run-of-the-mill printer, inventor, civic activist, Founding Father and statesman.  He did more than fly kites in electrical storms, found universities and negotiate peace treaties.

Franklin also was a noted author on money, work and values, dispensing advice such as "a penny saved is a penny earned" through his series of popular "Poor Richard's Almanacks."

Valley author Ron Willingham did iimagine what it would be like to have Frankliin as a money mentor, and the result was his clever self-published work, "The Ten Laws of Wealth & Abundance."

This is a fictional tale of Andrew Baldwin, who rises from impoverished Philadelphia store clerk to wealthy merchant landowner by applying Franklin's 10 rules of financial success.

Willingham recently switched his attention to improving personal-finance habits after spending years as a sales and customer-service trainer.  He's the founder and chairman of LifeScript Learning in Phoenix and the author of several other self-help books.

"This is my first book on a financial theme," said Willingham, whose other works have focused on self-improvement, leadership, sales, customer service and related topics.

Writing in a somewhat archaic style with woodcut drawings for illustrations, Willingham explores the 10 tips gradually as Franklin and Baldwin interact over the years.

The tips are fundamentally basic and include axioms such as:
  • "Triim your expenses to weigh less than your income."
  • "Borrow only what you have the ability to repay."
  • "Invest with the greatest prudence and safety."
  • "Establish good habits, and they will establish you."
More than two centuries after Franklin penned them, the 10 laws make sense even today.

Willingham provides a quick-reading summary for people who don't plan to wade through all those "Poor Richard's Almanacks."

The book costs $26 and can be ordered through Willingham's Web site, thetenlawsofwealth.com.

New Book Review - Murder on Everest

Very excited to share this amazing review with you from The Indie Bookshelf of Murder on EverestMurder on Everest is the first book in the Summit Murder Mystery series.

In Murder on Everest when Derek Sodoc, only son of the world's richest and most powerful man dies attempting to climb Mt. Everest, questions are raised. Was it the mountain that sealed his fate? Or perhaps something more sinister?  After reading the book Abandoned on Everest that details Derek Sodoc's untimely death, Sodoc's father convinces the surviving expedition members to return to Everest - presumably to recover Derek's body. With billions at stake and a relentless father searching for someone to blame, everyone is a suspect. Set against the backdrop of the world's highest and deadliest mountain, Murder on Everest is filled with intrigue, sex, betrayal and mystery. It is unlike any murder mystery you've ever read.

Thank you very much to Janna Mashburn for reading and reviewing my novel.  I'm looking forward to getting you the other books in the series!

Janna's review -
I have no desire to climb the tallest mountain in the world, but after reading this book, I have somewhat of  an idea of what a climber goes through. The authors of this book described the perils and experiences perfectly while adding a murder mystery to keep you guessing right until the very end. Both authors did a great job of explaining the terms used in the book so you weren't confused. Each scene was described so realistically, and I was really intrigued and amazed by some of the dangers these climbers experienced.

Now, on to the murder mystery part....this book has a murder and no one knows who did it. There is a prequel to this novel named 'Abadoned on Everest', but "Murder on Everest' references the prequels story so you are not confused. Scott Devlon is the main character, and he is back to help find the murderer of Dereck Sodoc. Devlon was the last one to see Derek before his death, and the characters in this story are on a mission to bring his dead body down from Everest.

I enjoyed all of the characters, there was such a melting pot of personalities, some adding comic relief and others drama. You really get a feel for each character's internal and external struggles while on the mountain. Physical strength is not the only component in these adventures, you must be able to endure much more than that.

I recommend this book to readers who love an adventure story with some mystery.
