Global Health Advanced First Aid Course

With my philanthropic travels all around the world with Project C.U.R.E., the potential to experience a medical emergency is high.  I visit people in various medical clinics, hospitals and villages.  I've experienced places that have different food, terrains and climates than I'm used to, and certainly ones that have very different medical care and abilities to help themselves.  When I was told about a 24 hour global health advanced first aid course at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, I jumped at the chance to attend.

What a great experience I had learning new tools to help others.  I learned so much and was part of a great class of doctors, nurses, EMT's and others.  We all worked very hard together in extremely challenging scenarios to learn how to save and help our patients.  In particular, was our last exercise which was an imagined plane crash in the remote mountains of Bolivia.

Award Winning Author, Entrepreneur and Adventurer Visits Mumbai, India For Medical Mission

Charles G. Irion Performs Medical Assessment For Project C.U.R.E. In Mumbai, India

As an advisory board member and a trained and certified needs assessment representative, Charles G. Irion’s latest mission was in Mumbai, India. The city of Mumbai, is a great port city, situated on the west coast of the Indian peninsula.  One of India’s dominant urban centers, it’s one of the largest and most densely populated cities in the world.  Therefore, the medical needs are great.   Major health problems in the city include AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, chronic respiratory ailments, and gastro-intestinal diseases related to poor sanitation and hygiene. 

Working closely with Harvest India, Irion assessed two hospitals.  One located in Mumbai and another in Tenali.  The Phil-Am Lions Club donated over 250 pair of neutralized eye glasses for children in an orphanage, and Irion himself brought over fifty pounds of clothing for children in need.

About Havest India - Our strategy is to be intentional whether distributing food, or caring for an orphan for 1 day or for their entire life, or running an academic calendar in a major institution, or doing a major outreach in an unreached village. Not only are we looking to meet the “right now” needs, but we are looking to invite each person we encounter to be a part of a community so that they can experience true life change. We want them to know that they matter and that they are loved. It tangibly looks like having young pastors trained in our Bible Colleges, so that after a Mercy Camp there is a pastor visiting or living in that area, ready to follow up with those we treat.
